Former Ethereum developer Virgil Griffith will go on trial in New York court on April 12. Griffith's plea deal may let him face 63 to 78 months (about 5 to 6.5 years) in prison, and the government has also asked the judge to impose a fine of up to $1 million to deter him and others from "similar conduct in the future."
Previously, Virgil Griffith was arrested in 2019 after giving a speech on crypto and blockchain technology in North Korea and later being charged with violating the U.S. Sanctions Act against North Korea.
