The Top 4 AI-Memecoins to Watch

BloFin Academy10/28/2024
This article introduces the new narrative AI-memecoins and explores the four largest AI-driven memecoins.

What are AI-Memecoins?

AI memecoins are a distinct subset of memecoins that utilize artificial intelligence to enhance their appeal and functionality. Some of these tokens are developed with the help of large language models (LLMs), which generate engaging narratives, create personas, and facilitate interactions that resonate with users. Others are closely linked to AI by being promoted and even held by autonomous AI bots.

While traditional memecoins like Dogecoin and Shiba Inu are known for their humorous origins and community-driven hype, AI memecoins introduce several new features:

  • Creation Process: Traditional memecoins are generally launched by developers who capitalize on internet memes or cultural phenomena. In contrast, AI memecoins often employ large language models to write token contracts and create content and personas that actively represent the coin on social media.
  • Community Engagement: AI memecoins use AI-generated personas to interact directly with the community, providing a novel approach to engagement. This differs from traditional memecoins, where engagement is typically more organic and driven by trending social media content.
  • AI Bot Investment: Some AI memecoins are held by wallet addresses controlled not by humans but by autonomous AI bots. This adds a unique new participant to the memecoin ecosystem—self-governing AI bots that engage in the market independently.

GOAT (Goatseus Maximus)

GOAT, also known as Goatseus Maximus, is a memecoin that has captured significant attention in the crypto world. Launched in October 2024, it quickly gained traction with an unprecedented rise in market capitalization, peaking over $700 million. The coin is built on the Solana blockchain and was created via the memecoin platform Pump.Fun. Despite initial rumors, the coin was not directly created by AI but was heavily promoted by an AI bot named Truth Terminal, developed by Andy Ayrey as part of a larger experiment in AI and memetic culture.

GOAT and Truth Terminal

Truth Terminal is an AI agent created by Andy Ayrey, designed to engage in memetic conversations and debates about internet culture, religion, and AI-generated belief systems. It was initially part of a broader AI experiment in memetic engineering, drawing on data from platforms like Reddit and 4chan. The AI was not intended to create or promote cryptocurrencies, but rather to explore the dynamics of how ideas spread in online communities.

The relationship between Truth Terminal and the GOAT memecoin began when the AI started discussing memes related to Goatse, an infamous internet meme, leading to the creation of the Goatseus Maximus ($GOAT) token by a third party. This developer launched the token on Solana's memecoin platform, Pump.Fun, and tagged Truth Terminal in online posts. The AI embraced the token, referring to it in its communications, and even accepted airdrops of GOAT tokens.

After Truth Terminal began promoting GOAT through its social media presence, the token experienced rapid growth in market capitalization. Notably, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen provided funding to Truth Terminal, further legitimizing its influence in the crypto space.

Marc Andreessen, co-founder of the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), granted $50,000 in Bitcoin to Truth Terminal. This funding was intended as an unconditional research grant to support independent AI research rather than a direct investment in the GOAT memecoin or any related project.

Tokenomics

GOAT is a fairly launched token with a total supply of 1 billion tokens, all of which are now in circulation. The token distribution is considered healthy, with over 39,000 holders. Excluding exchange and market maker holdings, the top 10 addresses collectively hold around 6.7% of the total supply. Notably, only three addresses hold more than 1% of the total supply, ensuring a relatively decentralized distribution.

Turbo

Turbo (TURBO) is a unique memecoin that gained significant traction after being created by digital artist Rhett Mankind in April 2023 using GPT-4 (OpenAI’s large language model). It is an ERC-20 token built on the Ethereum blockchain, and it became an early experiment in using AI for cryptocurrency creation.

Turbo’s creation is as unique as the token itself. Rhett Mankind tasked GPT-4 with designing a memecoin from scratch on a budget of just $69. The AI not only generated the name and mascot but also crafted the logo, established the tokenomics, and wrote the smart contract. Mankind then handed control of the project to the community, allowing it to evolve in a fully decentralized manner.

Turbo’s market performance has been impressive, reaching a peak market cap of over $600 million in just three months after its launch. This growth was fueled by a mix of AI-generated buzz, social media engagement, and increasing interest in AI-powered memecoins.

Tokenomics

Total Supply: Turbo has a total supply of 69 billion tokens.

Distribution:

  • Crowdfunded: 60 billion tokens were allocated through crowdfunding.
  • Founder Allocation: 9 billion tokens are reserved for the founder.

Transaction Structure: Turbo boasts a tax-free transaction model, promoting ease of use and encouraging trading without additional costs.

Contract Ownership: Contract ownership has been renounced, meaning no centralized control over the token, aligning with decentralization principles.

TURBO is a fully circulating token, with the top 10 addresses (excluding exchanges) collectively holding around 15% of the total supply. The two largest addresses hold 8.56% and 5.36% of the supply, respectively.

CorgiAI

CorgiAI, launched on the Cronos blockchain in early 2023, combines artificial intelligence and meme culture in a decentralized, community-driven ecosystem. Its native token, CORGIAI, serves as both a medium of exchange and a mechanism for rewarding users within its ecosystem. Since its debut, CorgiAI has rapidly grown in popularity, amassing a large user base. Its early adoption strategy included engaging its community through staking rewards, exclusive NFTs, and gamified elements.

A standout feature is its use of AI-driven platforms for creating and trading NFTs. Users can generate unique text-to-image artwork and mint them as NFTs on the Cronos blockchain.

Tokenomics

CorgiAI’s tokenomics are structured to support both utility and community rewards, with a mix of staking, allocation, and deflationary mechanisms.

Token Utility: The CORGIAI token enables multiple functions within the CorgiAI ecosystem, including the purchase of NFTs, access to AR treasure hunts, and participation in staking for APY rewards. As CorgiAI develops, CORGIAI is expected to power future applications related to AI and community-driven projects

Token Allocation:

  • Total Supply: 500 billion CORGIAI tokens.
  • Community and Development: 65% of the supply is designated for community incentives, partnerships, and development.
  • Liquidity and Reserves: 35% is allocated to liquidity pools to support trading on various exchanges, ensuring stability and accessibility

The current circulating supply of CORGIAI is 343B out of the 500 billion total supply. The top 10 addresses excluding smart contracts hold over 30% of the total token supply.

Fartcoin

Fartcoin is a memecoin on the Solana blockchain that was created recently and gained popularity in part due to its association with Truth Terminal, the AI bot created by Andy Ayrey.

Fartcoin is among the tokens in Truth Terminal’s portfolio, which also includes the prominent memecoin GOAT. This portfolio helped the bot’s value surge to over $5 million, making Truth Terminal the first known AI bot to reach millionaire status in the crypto market. Truth Terminal’s holdings in Fartcoin, initially valued at $40,000, quickly appreciated to over $1.2M, largely driven by market speculation around the bot’s involvement.

FARTCOIN is a fully circulating token with a total supply of 1 billion. The top 10 addresses collectively hold 13.65% of the total supply. The largest holder is the Truth Terminal wallet, which contains over 20 million tokens.
