Taiwan Central Bank Holds Key Rate at 2%
The Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 2% in September 2026, the highest level since 2008. Headline inflation stayed above the 2% target for a fourth straight month at 2.04%, while the economy posted its fastest first-half growth since 1976, driven by the AI boom and semiconductor exports. Full-year 2026 GDP growth was forecast at 11.48%.
