The Department of Justice has instructed lawmakers with FTX-linked political donations to hand over the cash. Several US Congressional campaigns have complied with the Department of Justice's (DOJ) instructions to surrender political donations linked to FTX.
Ryan Salame, the former CEO of FTX Global Markets, donated nearly $23 million to Republican candidates during the 2022 midterm election cycle.
The funds returned will be used to compensate those defrauded by the exchange and its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, who currently faces 13 federal charges.
