Optimism Delays Bedrock Upgrade Vote Until March 2nd

Feb 17,2023,03:31

Optimism announced that the vote for the Bedrock upgrade proposal is rescheduled to Cycle 11, which is between March 2nd and April 5th. The delay is to resolve bugs uncovered by community members as part of the Bedrock bug bounty contest.

Previously, the Optimism Foundation released a proposal regarding upgrading the Optimism mainnet to Bedrock. Bedrock is a new generation of decentralized Rollup architecture developed by OP Labs, which aims to offer modularity, simplicity, and Ethereum equivalence for Layer2 solutions. Bedrock implements a modular architecture, separating the OP Stack into 3 components, consensus, execution, and settlement. It will enable performance improvements, including transaction costs, throughput characteristics, and sync speeds.

In January, the Optimism Goerli testnet was upgraded to Bedrock, and according to the Optimism Foundation, it had no significant setbacks.

Should the proposal be approved by the community, the upgrade would be scheduled for execution two weeks after the vote.
