In a win for Bitcoin miners in the United States, the proposed Digital Asset Mining Energy (DAME) tax has been scrapped following negotiations surrounding the US debt ceiling. The tax would have required proof of work miners to pay a 30% tax on the energy consumed during the mining process.
The tax was part of the Biden Administration’s federal budget proposal but was removed in negotiations between the administration and the Republican House Speaker.
The US is currently the most popular mining hub worldwide, accounting for 37.84% of global bitcoin mining hash rate.
