A stock exchange keeps office hours, opening in the morning and closing in the afternoon on weekdays, while crypto markets carry on through nights, weekends and holidays. When a company's share is carried onto a crypto exchange, it ends up living under both calendars at once.
That makes a simple question harder than it sounds. You might see a price moving at 3AM or on a Sunday afternoon and wonder which market is open. You might also wonder whether your order will go through, and which time zone the rules use. The answer can differ for the share, the token and the contract that follows it.
Each tokenized share and each stock perpetual has its own written schedule, and every one of them is set against the US exchange's sessions in Eastern time. Once you know those sessions and how they convert to UTC, the rest of the week falls into place.
For Meta Platforms on BloFin, that means two markets with two schedules: the METAX/USDT Spot pair, where Meta's tokenized share trades, and the METAUSDT Perpetual, a contract that follows Meta's price with leverage. Both sit beside the Nasdaq sessions where Meta's shares change hands.
What are METAX trading hours?
METAX trading hours are the times the METAX/USDT pair accepts orders on BloFin. The written schedule is 24 hours a day on weekdays, and in practice the pair has also traded every hour of recent weekends, including all 48 hours of October 10 and 11, 2026. Nasdaq's regular session for Meta's shares runs from 9.30AM to 4PM ET.
The perpetual keeps a third schedule. It quotes a price every hour of the week, but whenever Nasdaq's regular session is shut, including weekends and US market holidays, BloFin may take only orders that make an existing position smaller.
Say it is Sunday morning in New York and you want Meta exposure before the week starts. Nasdaq's pre-market opens at 4AM ET on Monday. METAX/USDT, though, has traded through every weekend hour since early September, so a buy order placed now fills against other BloFin traders at the price they are asking. A new perpetual position may have to wait for Monday's 9.30AM ET open. METAX is tokenized Meta, a token built to follow the share's price, so until Nasdaq reopens its weekend price is set by BloFin traders alone.
Nasdaq's trading sessions for Meta stock
Meta's shares change hands on Nasdaq in three weekday sessions. Nasdaq's systems open at 4AM ET, the regular market runs from 9.30AM until 4PM ET, and trading continues until 8PM ET (source: Nasdaq trading schedule). The hours before 9.30AM are the pre-market, and the hours after 4PM are after-hours trading.
The regular session is the one that counts for most purposes. FINRA, the US brokerage regulator, notes that extended-hours trading has fewer buyers and sellers and often swings more, so an order may fill only in part or not at all (source: FINRA on extended-hours trading). FINRA puts the usual pre-market at 7AM to 9.30AM ET, later than Nasdaq's 4AM start, so check which hours your own broker offers.
Here is what the three markets looked like together just before the opening bell on Monday, October 12, 2026. Meta's Friday close was $718.67, and at 9.28AM ET the pre-market quote stood at $729.00 (source: Stock Analysis). A minute earlier on BloFin, METAX/USDT traded at 731.99 USDT and the METAUSDT Perpetual at 730.79 USDT.
Market | Price shortly before Monday's open | Gap to the pre-market quote |
|---|---|---|
Meta on Nasdaq, pre-market (9.28AM ET) | $729.00 | none |
METAX/USDT Spot (9.27AM ET) | 731.99 USDT | 0.41% higher |
METAUSDT Perpetual, last trade (9.27AM ET) | 730.79 USDT | 0.25% higher |
All three had moved up since Friday's 4PM ET close. The share's pre-market quote was 1.44% above $718.67, METAX 1.44% above 721.61 USDT and the perpetual 1.58% above 719.40 USDT, worked out from the Stock Analysis quotes and BloFin's hourly record. The token and the contract both sat within half a percent of the pre-market quote, even though neither had a regular-session price to follow since Friday afternoon. A position held through those hours carries that drift into Monday's open, which is the risk behind price gaps while Nasdaq is closed.
METAX/USDT hours and weekend trading
METAX/USDT trades through every weekday hour, and BloFin's hourly record shows it trading at weekends and on a US holiday as well. Volume barely changes from one session to the next. Over the two weeks to October 9, 2026, an average weekday hour moved 13.9 to 19.3 METAX, whether Nasdaq was in its regular session, in after-hours trading or shut.
The written schedule and the record disagree, and both come from BloFin. BloFin's xStocks risk disclosure, the document covering the family of tokenized shares METAX belongs to, is dated August 20, 2025 and limits xStocks trading to the five weekdays, around the clock (source: BloFin xStocks risk disclosure). The hourly record shows trades in all 48 hours of the weekend of October 3 and 4, 2026, and in every weekend hour from early September to October 11.
Six straight weekends of trades show how the pair has behaved since early September, while the risk disclosure still limits xStocks trading to weekdays. Before you count on a weekend order, open the METAX/USDT page that Saturday and check that the order book is showing bids and offers.
Hours, US Eastern time | METAX traded per hour | METAUSDT Perpetual traded per hour |
|---|---|---|
Weekday overnight, 8PM to 4AM | 13.9 METAX | 8.8 META |
Pre-market, 4AM to 9AM | 15.7 METAX | 35.9 META |
Hour of the open, 9AM to 10AM | 19.3 METAX | 59.9 META |
Regular session, 10AM to 4PM | 15.6 METAX | 45.3 META |
After-hours, 4PM to 8PM | 14.2 METAX | 6.5 META |
Weekend of October 3 and 4 | 13.4 METAX | 5.4 META |
Those averages come from BloFin's hourly trades over the ten weekdays from September 28 to October 9, 2026, and the weekend between them, worked out by session. METAX's busiest hour is the one in which Nasdaq opens, yet a quiet weekend hour still carries about seven tenths of it. The perpetual tells a different story, with most of its trading packed into Nasdaq's day.
Steady volume is a different thing from a deep order book. A few METAX changing hands each hour says nothing about how far a large order would move the price, and METAX liquidity and slippage measures that cost directly.
You can check whether METAX is trading right now, and at what price, on the METAX/USDT Spot page, and follow the perpetual's price and window on the METAUSDT Perpetual page.
META perpetual hours and reduce-only orders
The METAUSDT Perpetual quotes a price at every hour, and its listing notice gives its trading hours as 24/7. Outside Nasdaq's regular session, which is 1.30PM to 8PM UTC until October 30, 2026, BloFin may accept only reduce-only orders. A reduce-only order can only lower or close a position you already hold.
BloFin words this two ways, and the difference matters. The listing notice's table of terms prints "Trading Hours 24/7", while its notes say that outside the main market's regular hours, orders will be limited to reduce-only ones that close positions (source: BloFin METAUSDT listing notice). The later stock futures notice says trading outside regular weekday hours, at weekends and on public holidays may be limited in that way (source: BloFin stock futures notice). The banner on the trading page uses the same "may".
So the market stays open the whole week for closing positions, while opening them is tied to Nasdaq's regular session. In UTC, the stock futures notice gives that window as 1.30PM to 8PM in US daylight saving time and 2.30PM to 9PM in standard time (source: BloFin stock futures notice). Five sessions of six and a half hours add up to 32.5 hours, about a fifth of the week's 168, worked out.
BloFin's hourly record shows how closely traders follow Nasdaq's day. On the ten weekdays to October 9, 2026, volume on the perpetual doubled at 4AM ET, when Nasdaq's pre-market opens. It peaked between 10AM and 11AM ET, the first full hour after the 9.30AM open. It then fell by 68% in the first hour after the 4PM close. The contract takes its price from an index built from outside data vendors' quotes, and the listing notice says that index holds its last value whenever no outside data arrives (source: BloFin METAUSDT listing notice).
Say it is 6AM UTC on a Thursday and you want to start a short. Nasdaq's pre-market opens in two hours and its regular session in seven and a half, so BloFin may turn the order away until 1.30PM UTC. If you already hold a short, a buy order ticked Reduce-only can still close it at 6AM, and the open position keeps moving with the price index in the meantime.
Funding, the payment between long and short positions that keeps the contract near its index, keeps its own schedule. It settles every eight hours from 12AM Hong Kong time (source: BloFin METAUSDT contract details), which is 4PM, 12AM and 8AM UTC on every day of the week. BloFin can shorten that interval to four, two or one hours when the market moves fast (source: BloFin funding FAQ). Crypto funding rates explains how the rate is set, and how the META perpetual works covers leverage and liquidation.
Meta, METAX and the perpetual hour by hour
All three markets are fully open together only during Nasdaq's regular session, 9.30AM to 4PM ET on weekdays. In the other hours Meta's shares trade in an extended session or not at all, METAX/USDT keeps trading, and the perpetual may take only closing orders. The UTC times move one hour later from November 2, 2026.
Each Nasdaq session has one time in Eastern time and two in UTC, one on each side of the switch to standard time (source: Nasdaq trading schedule) (source: BloFin stock futures notice).
Nasdaq session, ET | UTC to October 30, 2026 | UTC from November 2, 2026 | Meta shares | METAX/USDT Spot | METAUSDT Perpetual |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Overnight, 8PM to 4AM | 12AM to 8AM | 1AM to 9AM | Nasdaq closed | trading | may be reduce-only |
Pre-market, 4AM to 9.30AM | 8AM to 1.30PM | 9AM to 2.30PM | extended session | trading | may be reduce-only |
Regular, 9.30AM to 4PM | 1.30PM to 8PM | 2.30PM to 9PM | regular session | trading | all orders |
After-hours, 4PM to 8PM | 8PM to 12AM | 9PM to 1AM | extended session | trading | may be reduce-only |
Saturday and Sunday | all day | all day | Nasdaq closed | written as weekdays only; traded every weekend hour since early September 2026 | may be reduce-only |
The pattern to remember is that the perpetual's window matches Nasdaq's regular session to the minute, while METAX ignores the sessions. Nasdaq's extended sessions fall outside the perpetual's window. At 9AM UTC in October, Meta's shares can trade in the pre-market and METAX can trade on BloFin, while the perpetual may still turn away an order that opens a position.
Say you work through the morning in UTC and check Meta at 9AM. The share is in its pre-market and METAX is trading, so a spot order goes through. A new perpetual position would wait until 1.30PM, when all three markets are open together. Once you know which column you need, the timing reads quickly, and METAX or the META perpetual helps decide which one that is.
The November 1 switch to standard time
US daylight saving time ends at 2AM local time on Sunday, November 1, 2026 (source: NIST). From Monday, November 2, every Nasdaq session starts and ends one hour later in UTC, and so does the perpetual's regular window, which becomes 2.30PM to 9PM UTC.
Nothing changes in Eastern time, because New York itself moves an hour with the switch. The opening bell still rings at 9.30AM ET, and the close still comes at 4PM ET. What changes is the distance between New York and UTC, which grows from four hours to five.
Two things stay where they are. METAX/USDT trades through all 24 hours of a weekday, so its hours have no edge to move. Funding on the perpetual is fixed in UTC, so the 4PM, 12AM and 8AM UTC settlements stay put while their Eastern times move. The 8AM UTC settlement falls at 4AM ET in October, the moment Nasdaq's pre-market opens, and at 3AM ET from November 2, worked out.
Say you check Meta every day at 2PM UTC. On Friday, October 30, that is half an hour into Nasdaq's regular session, and the perpetual accepts every order. On Monday, November 2, the same 2PM UTC falls half an hour before the open, inside the pre-market, so the perpetual may accept only closing orders until 2.30PM. If you set alerts or reminders in UTC, move them on November 2 and again when daylight saving time returns in March.
Meta's third-quarter report night by the hour
Meta will release its third-quarter 2026 results after the 4PM ET close on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 (source: Meta third-quarter 2026 date notice) (source: Stock Analysis). The release falls at 8PM UTC, the minute the perpetual's regular window shuts, while METAX keeps trading and the share moves into after-hours.
Meta has released recent results after the regular session. Its second-quarter 2026 notice set the release after the market close on Wednesday, July 29 (source: Meta Q2 2026 date notice). The third-quarter notice keeps that timing, with the call at 4.30PM ET (source: Meta third-quarter 2026 date notice), and October 21 falls in the second-to-last week of US daylight saving time, so these UTC times hold for it.
Time on October 21 and 22, 2026 | UTC | Meta shares | METAX/USDT Spot | METAUSDT Perpetual |
|---|---|---|---|---|
4PM ET, regular close, October 21 | 8PM | after-hours begins | trading | window closes; may be reduce-only |
8PM ET, after-hours ends | 12AM, October 22 | Nasdaq closed | trading | may be reduce-only |
4AM ET, pre-market opens, October 22 | 8AM | pre-market | trading | may be reduce-only |
9.30AM ET, regular open, October 22 | 1.30PM | regular session | trading | all orders |
Report night has a clear shape. For the first four hours the share trades thinly in after-hours while METAX trades on BloFin. Then come eight hours with no Nasdaq trading at all, and METAX is the only one of the three you can buy or sell freely. A perpetual position you want for the report is safest opened before 8PM UTC, since BloFin may accept only closing orders after that. One you already hold can be closed at any point in the night.
If the release lands after Nasdaq's close, the share's first regular-session reaction comes at the next morning's 9.30AM ET open. Trading Meta around earnings plans a position around that move, while Meta's earnings explained lists the numbers in the release to read first.
US market holidays and early closes
Nasdaq has four more holiday dates in 2026. It closes all day on Thanksgiving, November 26, and on Christmas Day, December 25, and it closes early at 1PM ET on November 27 and December 24 (source: Nasdaq trading schedule). Those early closes fall at 6PM UTC, after the switch to standard time.
BloFin's stock futures notice lists the same four dates and puts both early closes at 6PM UTC (source: BloFin stock futures notice). On a full holiday the perpetual's regular window never opens, so it may accept only closing orders from Wednesday's 9PM UTC close until Friday's 2.30PM UTC open around Thanksgiving. On an early-close day the window runs from 2.30PM to 6PM UTC.
METAX's record on the last US holiday points the other way. On Labor Day, September 7, 2026, the pair traded in all 24 hours of the Eastern-time day, 341.5 METAX in all, or about 14.2 an hour, close to its normal weekday pace. The perpetual traded 128.1 META that day, about 5.3 an hour, worked out from BloFin's hourly record, which is near its weekend level.
Say you plan to open a position on the Friday after Thanksgiving. METAX/USDT should trade as it does on any weekday, and the perpetual's window runs for only three and a half hours, from 2.30PM to 6PM UTC. Check the trading page that morning, since a short session leaves little time to open a position and set its stop.

Frequently asked questions
Is Meta a 24-hour stock?
Meta's shares can trade on Nasdaq from 4AM to 8PM ET on weekdays, and the regular session covers 9.30AM until 4PM ET. Some US brokers add overnight trading through other venues: Robinhood, for example, offers Meta 24 hours a day, five days a week (source: Robinhood). On BloFin, METAX/USDT trades through the whole weekday as well.
Does after-hours trading change Meta's closing price?
Meta's official closing price is set at the end of Nasdaq's regular session at 4PM ET, and trading after that time leaves it unchanged. FINRA also notes that extended-hours prices do not set the next day's opening price (source: FINRA on extended-hours trading). A quote site's after-hours figure is therefore a separate reading taken after the close.
Does funding on the META perpetual settle at weekends?
Funding settles at weekends just as it does on weekdays, at 4PM, 12AM and 8AM UTC by default, and more often when BloFin shortens the interval in a fast market. Over Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11, 2026, the six settlements came to +0.0775%, five of them at +0.0120% (source: BloFin METAUSDT funding history). A 1 META long valued at 730.79 USDT paid about 0.57 USDT for that weekend, worked out.
When does daylight saving time start again in 2027?
US daylight saving time begins on the second Sunday in March (source: NIST), which in 2027 is March 14. From the next day, Nasdaq's regular session moves back to 1.30PM to 8PM UTC, and BloFin's regular window for stock futures moves with it. Funding times on the perpetual stay at 4PM, 12AM and 8AM UTC through both switches.
Can you trade METAX during Meta's earnings call?
METAX/USDT keeps trading through Meta's earnings call. Meta sets each call time in the notice that announces the report date, and the second-quarter 2026 call was set for 1.30PM Pacific time on July 29, which is 4.30PM ET (source: Meta Q2 2026 date notice). The first-quarter call on April 29 started later, at 2.30PM Pacific or 5.30PM ET (source: Meta Q1 2026 date notice). During US daylight saving time those are 8.30PM and 9.30PM UTC, when the METAUSDT Perpetual may take only closing orders and the share trades only in Nasdaq's after-hours session.

Nothing in this article constitutes financial advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold Meta in any form. A METAX order placed while Nasdaq is shut fills at a price set by BloFin traders alone, and that price can move sharply once the share trades again. Outside Nasdaq's regular session the METAUSDT Perpetual may accept only orders that reduce a position, while a leveraged position you already hold keeps moving and can be liquidated. Past performance does not indicate future results. Do your own research and consider your risk tolerance before you trade on BloFin.
